Choosing Your Own Path
by: Peter Fisher

Nobody but you can decide what is right for your career, however it sounds to me as if you are searching for something that you haven't yet defined and the career tests have only been helpful insofar as they have firmed up in your mind what you don't want to do.

That is a start at least.

You say you have changed jobs numerous times, but always within your field of expertise, so are you playing safe expecting to find something new within the confines of the same discipline? Is that likely? What was it that you wanted to change?

Although HR work is people related, do you actually like working with people or are you more 'systems' oriented?

Considering your own business is something that many people think about when the world of employment cannot offer the satisfaction that you are seeking. I can draw a parallel with my own business in the 'Careers' market. I started this business - Career Consulting Limited to make my expertise available to a greater number of people through my website.

Perhaps you could try that and see if you gain the mental stimulation you are looking for. You could help people by making your knowledge and expertise more widely available with the added satisfaction of building something rewarding and worthwhile for the future with you in absolute charge of where it ultimately goes to.

You can see what I've done with my website, so why don't you take a look at what other people have done and the results they have with their own businesses.
