Registered Practical Nurse

by Nancy
(Canada)

I have been a Registered Practical Nurse since 1991. Even at that time, I did not want to be a Registered Practical Nurse, as I do not enjoy shift work, I would like a position working only days, Monday to Friday, with perhaps Saturday mornings or all day thrown in. I continued with the nursing course I was in as my husband wanted me to do it. Right out of school I obtained a position and have been working there ever since.

I am currently part time, and not making enough money to survive. I went back to school a few years ago after saving for it for a few years, and in the first semester, during March Break, my son was attacked by some boys at his school and the police told me to keep a close eye on him, which I did. When I returned to school, I purchased my books at a cost of $2200 dollars, and when I got home, my books were stolen out of my car. I did not have the money to buy them again, so there went my dream of becoming a law clerk.

I am looking for secretarial work, receptionist, file clerk, typist, and I have not had any luck. This happened approx 5 years ago. I am currently loosing my house, car and everything I own as I do not have the money to pay for it.

Can you help me by suggesting what I should do, and how I can make a successful career change?
