Looking For A Job? How To Find Recession-Proof Jobs

Looking For A Job? Find Recession-Proof Jobs, Great Tips For You...

Recession can be a very stubborn thing, especially when you're looking for a job. Once it gets a grip of the economy, it can take a while for it to fade away and disappear. However, that doesn't mean that we should simply sit back and let it overcome us. It can, after all, wreak havoc on our finances and personal lives.

In these tough times, finding a job already seems pretty uncertain, but just imagine being in the market for jobs that are not affected by recession. Sot take heart, there's still hope yet if you are looking for a job. Here are top 6 tips for finding recession-proof jobs:

Start by looking for a job in secure industries which are not affected to the same extent as others by the recession.

These jobs are in sectors that, whatever else is going on, will always be in demand. If you've read the news by now, trying to get a job in an auto plant is like trying to get on an elevator that's going down – and you're trying to go up. The same is true if you're trying to get a leg in real estate.

Why waste your time looking for a job in an industry that's experiencing some bad times? Instead try to set your sights on industries and sectors that have remained stable or are experiencing growth. These include:

  • Health care (nursing, caregiving, special care, medicine, physical therapy and other support manpower) - NHS Jobs

  • Law enforcement - How To Become A Police Officer

  • Information Technology: (network administration, software design and development) IT Jobs

  • Support Services (customer service, administrative assistance) - Customer Service Jobs

  • Sales and business development (product management, retail and wholesale) - Sales Jobs

  • Environmental and Green Jobs: Environmental Jobs

  • Education: (teaching jobs, school administration and other related support services)

Boost your CV.

If an employer sees nothing promising or exciting in your CV, they won't think twice about throwing your piece in the waste bin. Before you try to win a recession-proof job, consider revamping your CV right now. Take a copy of your latest and review it. If your CV has not been rewritten for several months, there's a high likelihood that it needs a makeover. Get your CV professionally written.

Focus on achievements.

A common error among job seekers is detailing their job descriptions in their CV. Although this is helpful in establishing their true purpose at work, it alone will not give the prospective employer a good enough idea of what you can do. Put some emphasis on your achievements and the results that you have produced to show that you actually did what you were employed to do.

Adapt your CV.

Typing out and printing or emailing a generic CV and cover letters is a huge mistake. Generic equates to average, which means that you have very little to make you stand out from the crowd. If you are looking for a job that is recession-proof, make sure your CV is outstanding and professionally presented so that your prospective employers will find it an attractive proposition.

Consider the industry you're targeting. If the job calls for someone who has a strong sales experience, use a choice of appropriate words to emphasize your sales background and use numbers to quantify your results. If the job calls for someone who had been involved directly in marketing and promotions, show your qualifications by including your response rates, your new product launches or your reader numbers. The more relevant your CV says you are, the better you'll be at landing a recession-proof job.

Expand your reach.

Other than advertised job vacancies, consider other venues when looking for a job. Look for trade magazines, papers, clubs and associations. You should also tap your network of professionals in the same field and use the internet, not just for actual vacancies listed, but to get some 'intelligence' on what is happening within your field that may lead to unannounced vacancies where you could beat the competition by getting in first.

Get further education.

In tough times, you ought to arm yourself with tougher credits. One is by obtaining additional training or education. Getting certified or expanding your professional qualifications will help make you a more desirable prespective employee.

Recession-proof jobs will also be the most popular among jobhunters who are looking for a job and probably considering the same strategies as you right now. It's likely that for every job that is available out there, there are thousands of other jobhunters out to get it. If you have better qualifications because of better training and experience, you'll come out as the best, most capable candidate.

Looking for a job in secure and enduring industries which are not affected to the same extent as others by the recession is the best strategy for your long term career.
