Jobs For Teens & Summer Jobs

Our Teen Jobs Help Is Here For You & Your Peace Of Mind

Jobs for teens usually fall into 1 of 3 categories: retail, food service, or clerical. Although teen jobs are tough to find these days, the teen must take an active interest in creating their job sometimes.

Teenagers are always on the lookout to make some money, and with summer approaching, it's time for teens to consider how they will spend their time. The good thing is that these jobs can also have the effect of teaching children how hard it can be to make money if you are working a low paying job.

Summer jobs and internships (whether they're paid or not) are a great way to prepare for life after high school or for college. If you're specifically looking for a summer, seasonal, or camp job, then some of the best summer job sites for teens are seasonal employment and careers with Camps, Resorts, Parks, Hotels, and some environmental organizations.

Teens who already have cars or who live somewhere with a good public transportation system can look outside of their neighborhoods for part time work.

Jobs For Teens - Tips You'll Want and Need

By Will Stone

Teens and jobs... there are so many opportunities but the balance between school, sports, clubs and work is always tough. Fortunately there are plenty of opportunities that are extremely flexible that would fit the crazy schedule of a teen.

It's important to know the labor laws in your specific state as they may vary. Laws may even vary by the type of employment. You can expect to find out that you can not get a job with a bonafide employer unless you are at least 14. Some minor research will give you the latest details on the rules and regulations in your state.

Typically a teen that is 14 or 15 years old can only work 3 hours a day with a maximum of 18 for the week. That's plenty as school is paramount to a successful career and any more hours would interfere.

In summer and during extended breaks, the hours would expand but never more than a 40 hour week with an 8 hour per day cap. A teen of this age can also expect a curfew of sorts with the latest working hours to be 9:00 PM local time.

Employment Documents

Expect to be able to prove your age and there are several ways to do that; a birth certificate will obviously prove that you are of legal age to work and the school that the teen works will also be able to provide documentation that would satisfy an employer. It's also a great idea to speak with the guidance office in the school in order to get some ideas of the little nuances that might be required in your local area. You should also go to the department of labor in your state to get specifics so you are not blind sided when you apply for these available jobs for teens.

Types of jobs for teens

Very few people want to work but it is a necessary evil so find something that is interesting as well as fits your schedule. If you are working at a place that you hate, it will show in your attitude and work ethic. Jobs at Walmart or Jobs at Sears are generally pretty good for a teen as well as jobs at Kohl's or jobs at Chick-fil-A as most of those enterprises are teen friendly and flexible in their hours.

So, good luck in your job search and remember that many employers have enjoyable jobs for teens.

Summer Jobs For Teens

By Will Stone

With summer approaching, it's time for teens to consider how they will spend their time. Will they remain in the ranks of the unemployed or will they consider a part or full time job?

It has always been my contention that if you were 16 or older that you should be working at least 25 hours weekly during summer breaks as that does several things. It keeps one out of trouble, it puts money in their pocket giving them a sense of fulfillment and it takes strain off of their parents as they are often wondering what are their teens doing at any given moment.

Sure, Playstation and X-box are fun, sleeping till noon has its' merits and hanging at the mall checking out the opposite sex is not such a bad way to kill some time but employment turns a boy into a man and a girl into a woman.

It's common knowledge that those persons that work as a youth develop excellent working habits and make better employees. Not only do they make better employees but they make better employers as well. Working develops a seasoning that you would not get if you are recreating fulfilling your innate desires. It teaches you to serve and to see things from the perspective of another whether it be the boss or the customer.

So, if you are a teen, consider taking a job this summer and put some extra change in your pocket and forget about living the life of an unemployed youth.

Jobs for teens that involve working alone late at night can put someone at risk for muggings or assaults, particularly people who are young and inexperienced. Jobs for teenagers should never require that teen to close a store on their own, or to leave when no one else is around. Jobs for teens help to gain life experience, enhance self esteem and of course, earn some pocket money, but they should never be put at risk.
