Environmental Jobs And Conservation Jobs

Our Job Finding Help Is Here For Your Career Change

Environmental jobs with organizations such as the WWF-UK and the Tourism and Conservation Partnership are still in strong supply. With salaries up to around £35,000 there are some really good jobs to be won in the UK alone.

This article explains why there is such an emphasis currently on jobs in this sector.

The New Emphasis of Environmental Jobs

Environmental jobs have been around for years. Many conservationists and naturalists have been employed by the government and other employers, seeking to protect nature and harness it for their purposes. Now the emphasis on environmental issues makes jobs in this category even more important than before though.

Environmental engineers have traditionally worked with waste water treatment and waste disposal. They were concerned with keeping a community or industrial plant running smoothly and cleanly. These scientists also tested the water supply for a city or town.

Now, these jobs are still important, but there are new priorities along with the old. Recycling is being done in more locations every year, and environmental engineers get involved with making it happen. They are also tasked with addressing pollution in the water, soil, and air.

New concerns include global warming and automobile emissions. Environmental engineers try to reduce problems with acid rain and the depletion of the earth's atmospheric ozone layer. Some of these environmental jobs are available at the government level, while others involve consulting for major corporations.

There is also still room in the environmental job market for naturalists, just as there has been in the past. Naturalists almost always work for the government though. This means that the pay is not as high as the private sector, but benefits are quite favorable. It takes at least a bachelor's degree to become a naturalist, but a master's degree offers the jobseeker more choices.

The naturalist does just what his title proclaims. He works with nature. He should know about living things, both plants and animals, as well as weather and geology. Ecology is now the number one interest for many naturalists who are working in the field. Some naturalists also work as educators at parks and preserves.

Many of the new "green" jobs involve researching new ways to solve the energy crisis. Workers study and facilitate the production of solar power, wind power, and power from alternative fuels. Other jobs in this particular category are the ones in which the workers experiment with ways to make existing products more fuel efficient.

Some of the up and coming environmental jobs are based on green building too. Workers suggest and implement ways houses and businesses can be built from native materials, use little fuel, and cause very little pollution. Many of these jobs are technician jobs.

If you are thinking about taking up any of the environmental jobs that are available where you live, there are many job boards for this type of work. All you need to do is to go to the boards, sign up, and post your resume. Soon you will be getting offers that you can research and consider.

If you are looking for environmental jobs in Los Angeles, one place where you can look for positions or post your resume is Spirit List (http://spiritlist.com). Billings Farnsworth is a freelance writer.
