How and where one should mention his Current CTC and Expected CTC in a CV?
Reply by Peter Fisher
First of all to clarify for other readers CTC = Cost to company.
CTC is the professional term for the package of salary which company offers to an employee. It normally includes the total remuneration and allowances based on basic pay, agreed expenses and payments such as rent, provident fund or any other expenses which are provided by the company for that particular profile.
This includes TDS, what it does not includes is operational expenses and office expenses which relate to that particular job profile.
Current CTC is the pay package which you are presently working for.
Expected CTC is the pay package you expect from the company, it may also be the package you are looking for.
I do not recommend that you include this on your CV for two reasons:
1. I am assuming that you are not a candidate for body shopping, where price is the main factor for selection.
2. CTC is one of the easiest ways to reject the prospective candidates at the CV / resume screening stage of the selection process.
However, where the advertisement and organization insist on your present CTC, provide them your expected CTC range first and mention that your present CTC is lower than or equal to this. You can justify your figures by demonstrating that your responsibility will be increased.
