Writing A Job Acceptance Letter - Some Tips To Get It Right...

Letter Writing Help For Your Career Change

The Job Acceptance Letter

Writing a job acceptance letter when you have received a job offer is one of the best and most pleasurable things you have to do as it represents the culmination of all your efforts in searching for a new job, but don't forget that the job acceptance itself is also an important item to get right. So here is some extra help to make sure that you don't miss any points that you need to cover. It's best to use your word processor or computer printer to get the best looking results.

The Job Acceptance Letter can be quite brief, but it should be positive and enthusiastic in tone, after all it is part of the overall impression that you are creating before you start the new job. Your letter should say how pleased you are to receive the job offer and that you are delighted to accept.

It is also a good idea to restate the terms of the job offer so that you have on record what you believe the job offer comprises, just in case their is any difference between what they said and what you thought.

You can also ask in your acceptance letter whether there is anything you should, or could, be doing in the period before you take up your new job to accelerate your settling in to the position.

As you conclude your letter, reiterate that you are eager to get started and say how much you are looking forward to joining the team.

The Letter...

Peter Perfect
77 Sunset Strip
Sometown PA
USA

This is a simple and pleasant letter to write. In the first paragraph, thank the company for the offer and directly accept the position.

Dear Mr. Perfect

Many thanks for the offer of the position at Alto Corp. as Executive Consultant which I am delighted to accept.

Next, restate the contract provisions as you understand them. These are points that you and your contact at the company have discussed in relation to your employment. They may include salary, location, benefits, or any other items.

I understand I will be joining the business performance group and the commencing salary will be $42,000 working 8.00 until 6.00.

My primary location will be downtown Philadelphia. You will provide me with a new compact sedan auto and I will receive three weeks paid annual vacation leave.

Restate any instructions you were given in their acceptance letter to you. These might include the date that you will begin working, the salary discussed, or the hours you would be working. It is extremely important to restate these details because they provide documentation of an understanding between you and the company before an actual contract is signed.

I will report to the Managing Consultant on Monday 21st April at 8.00 for further instructions.

Finally, end with a statement of your happiness at the opportunity to join the company. Be thankful and courteous, watching your tone so as not to sound too over-confident.

Thank you again, I look forward to joining Alto and becoming part of the continued success that the firm represents.

Yours Most Sincerely,

Michael Mutley
1 Sandringham Boulevard
What Town,
LA 43210

End of Job Acceptance Letter

Although the job acceptance letter can be quite brief, it should be positive and enthusiastic in tone, because it is part of the overall impression that you are creating before you start the new job. By using your letter to say how pleased you are to receive the job offer and that you are delighted to accept, you are building up your image in the eyes of the people you will ultimately be working with.
