If you do not want this to happen to you, you should start planning for it as early as possible.

This time is supposed to be a one of relaxation, family enjoyment, and taking care of oneself. A retiree should never be in a situation where he or she is supposed to work long hours to make a living. However, many people who retire do not have other choice and have to work all day long in order to survive financially. Therefore, it is important for you to know the different possibilities in income. Consider the following advice, which is related to the Internet and its resources. They are very easy to use.

Your Retirement Income Can help You Do Four Things:

1. It is a good idea to start an online business, using the knowledge you have acquired during the years of work in your area, no matter the field you are in. You will always find someone who needs what you have to offer, but make sure you are going to work according to your rules and conditions because you are supposed to be comfortable and relaxed. It will be a great help for your continuing salary.

2. There are other ways to generate earnings online, such as acting as a consultant in you area of expertise. For instance, if you used to be a teacher, you can help students sort out doubts online, with no need to travel to work or let strangers into your home.

Even if you did retire early, there are lots of good reasons to return to work after retirement, not least that the extra income would come in handy, but also the feeling of being able to contribute and be useful again, plus the intellectual stimulation that goes with working.

Well, retiring may be a good choice for you – especially if you can afford it – but not necessarily the right choice for all of us. Of course being retired doesn’t have to mean doing nothing at all, in fact with longer life-expectancy, that probably isn’t an option for many of us.

For most people considering retiring, the main concern is money. Some of you will have no worries, you’ve planned for it, and you’ve invested your savings and budgeted ahead. But even with the best savings rates, it won’t be like that for the majority, especially with what’s happening to pension funds every day.

However, far from thinking of putting your feet up, you might think about other ways to supplement your investments or pension. But first ask yourself what is your reason and motive for wanting to work, because this will affect whatever decision you make.

Perhaps you’re concerned that without a job you lose a large part of your identity? You want to protect the value of your savings and investments?

And if you're really motivated you can build a solid business with interest and intellectual stimulation that provides information to others who can benefit from your knowledge, whilst creating extra income for you and your family. You never have to sell a product or service; you can build upon this foundation of information. It’s your choice, depending on your skills, inclination, and time availability.

But if you do like the idea of selling a service; perhaps using your knowledge as a Consultant, you could offer a service related to your particular niche. Since every service revolves around a theme you could build a client base, whether clients are local (e.g. business consulting, or organizing children's birthday parties) or global (e.g. assessing the value of antiquarian books or travel services). Or you could start a completely new service business -- what do you know or do, that is of value to others?

This is how you can start to build an ever-growing client base until you can say... "I'm sorry... I'm not taking new clients”. And with it additional income.
