Cover Letter #8 A Graduate Cover Letter
Cover Letter Examples #5 A Thank-you letter following an interview This letter template is a valuable follow up to an interview because not many people are thanked, especially for an interview, and it keeps your name in their mind. You can't lose by sending this; it won't make any diference if you weren't going to get the job, but if you're in with a chance it could tip the balance in yor favour! There are two forms of this letter; the first is a simple thank-you which is the only letter that can, and should be handwritten. In other words it's just a personal note and could be worded like this: "Dear Mr Beamish Thank you for taking the time to interview me yesterday, I enjoyed meeting you and would really jump at the opportunity to join your team. Looking forward to hearing from you, Yours sincerely
Mike Jones"
Cover Letter Examples #6 The second form of this letter is also valuable as a follow up when you realise after the interview that you didn't cover an area very well! This is then a formal letter and should be word-processed and printed like all the others above.

Dear Mr Ashworth Re: Project Engineer Vacancy Thank you for the opportunity to expand on my background, areas of responsibility and career progression at our meeting last Tuesday. Since then I have had an opportunity to reflect on what we discussed during the interview, including the basic requirements of the job and my own skills and abilities. I feel I can make a smooth transition and solid contribution to your organisation in the capacity of Project Engineer. You mentioned that the new Project Engineer must have considerable experience in Robotics. Since we had little time to discuss the matter, I thought it worth re-emphasising that I have been very heavily involved with numerous hardware and software changes whilst with POR plc and in the mechanisation of two major operations for clients in a similar situation to your own. I enjoyed our meeting and am most interested in the position. As you suggested, I will telephone you in ten days, if I have not heard from you. Yours sincerely
Jerry Bateson
Cover Letter Examples #7
I've included this with the cover letter examples, although it’s hardly a covering letter; but the time will come when you’ve followed all the advice and you’ve secured the new job or career change you really want. When that happens you’ll have pleasure writing the Resignation Letter as you leave the last job You might be tempted, but this is not the time to tell them where they can stick their job; you might want a reference from them at some point, so aim to leave on good terms. (They don’t need to know any different). The Resignation Letter It's not easy to come up with any single example of a resignation letter, because like cover letters and CV or resumes, they are highly personal documents. There are some general points you can remember though:
• Address it to your boss by name; you know his name, so use it. Open your letter with Dear Bill, etc.
• Get straight to the point. Your opening sentence (and subject line) should be brief and to the point. Subject: Letter of Resignation
• Briefly state your reasons. Note positive reasons for accepting a new job, not negative reasons for leaving this one.
• Make sure you have tied up the loose ends as far as possible. If you have work that someone will need to take over, write a separate note to go with your resignation later which lists important things like urgent work or passwords.
• State your contractual notice period, but you might offer to stay a reasonable amount of time. More often than not, it won't be taken up, but it is a good parting gesture to make. Could offer some time to train up a replacement which is a good way for your employer to remember you (instead of just walking out).
• Be courteous and professional. Thank your employer for your time with the company, stating how much you appreciate it.
Your resignation can represent a difficult period of time. Writing a resignation letter isn't easy - you need to handle it professionally or it could have a serious impact on your career in the future. There is an example of the Resignation Letter pre-written for you in the 23 Cover Letter Pack which you can download below.
