The Formula for Your Success
'How To Get From Where You Are To Where You Want to Be'

The formula behind Your Success Principle was derived from the coaching work and 3 day seminars I was running in the mid 1990s with senior managers and directors. These people were all at that point in their lives where they needed to change and therefore to improve their situations. Many of them needed to get a new job; others simply wanted their dreams to come true. The initial work involved discovering where each of the people considered themselves to be at the time, before moving forward to defining where they wanted to be.

Because Your Success Principle can be understood by anyone: it can be thought of as a way of describing what needs to be done regardless of the problem being faced.

When I arrived at the formula, I found that those who applied it wholeheartedly were almost guaranteed to make a difference to their life. Read more Your Success Principle

Mid-Life Job Change
Critics have argued that anti-ageist legislation was long overdue and that employers needed to ditch any prejudice over age sooner rather than later. So will anything change now that the legislation is here in the UK?

Increased life expectancy coupled with poor fund performance or mismanagement and the recent fall in the value of equities means the UK is already facing a pensions shortfall of almost £30 billion. This shortage of funds means many of todays over 50s let alone their younger counterparts are going to have to remain in work for longer than planned in order to fund their retirement.

So what does all this mean for midlife career change? Over the next decade and beyond, not only will older workers be in growing demand, they will increasingly be in need of the work. And this is going to require a major shift in attitudes from employers and employees alike. One of the major challenges facing more mature workers is that after years of discrimination and negative conditioning their confidence and self-belief can suffer. You must take control of your own attitude and reverse this conditioning. Midlife career change , then can be an option for most people, but means you will have to work at it more than younger up-and-coming applicants. You must make more of your network of contacts, along with their contacts. People who know you directly or from a recommendation are more likely to consider your abilities and competence, than simply your age.

Although your skills and experience may be much greater than the person who interviews you, you will be perceived as more of an asset than a threat if you acknowledge their superior position; show how you will support them and help them to further their career. In other words by being the strong underpinning to their career growth, their own self-interest is served.

Just make sure your CV is of the highest quality and focuses on adding value, not just lots of experience that inevitably comes with age. Read more about CV and Resume Writing

RoboForm

I found this great tool - RoboForm - that remembers all my passwords, so I don't have to write them on pieces of paper. I have about 150 logins stored and use about 20 -30 of those regularly so it saves me a lot of bother.

I really like it and best of all, it is completely free. They do not show ads to you and they do not spy on you. RoboForm has received very positive reviews from publications such as The Wall St Journal, Financial Times and PC Magazine.
